Back To Dance Event Saturday 1-4 pm

Our annual Back to Dance event is Saturday, 1-4 pm at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, upstairs in the dance room.

We will have used tap and ballet shoes for sale and trade, new ballet shoes and tights, dance wear and hand made bun covers.

Bring your still good, but outgrown dance shoes so others can wear them. Dance can be expensive, and children outgrow their dance shoes in the blink of an eye. Our shoe program helps us all keep the costs low.

See you there!

New Afternoon 3-5 year old class

Due to demand, we have added an afternoon class for 3-5 year olds on Wednesdays at 2:30. We have made this a short session class – you sign up for 7 weeks at a time. We will have four short sessions over the course of the school year. The classes change and skills build, just like the regular school year sessions.

So, if the morning 3-4 year old classes don’t work for your schedule, perhaps this new Wednesday 2:30 class will!

Come in Dance Costume this week for Photos

Wow, great job everyone! Recital was terrific.

Remember to have your dancer wear their tights and costume, and their hair like recital (but no stage make-up) to class this week. And bring your camera! We’re having class and individual photos.

Also, be sure to bring a change of clothes for your dancer, the costume garment bag and hanger.

See you in class this week!

Recital Saturday Morning!

Our recital will be held at the Manor High School Performing Arts Center. The school is at 12700 Gregg Manor Rd, Manor, TX 78653. From Pflugerville, I usually take TX45/130 south, then turn east (left) on 290, then left on Gregg Manor Road, and the school is on your left. The performing arts center is the tallest part of the complex.

Performers start arriving at a little before 9:00; see list below for specific arrival times. Tell guests that the show starts at 11:30 and should be over by 12:45.

Check the front pocket of your dancer’s costume bag for details (hair, make-up, costume).

Rehearsal Arrival Times:

Allegro 8:50
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy 8:55
I Feel Pretty 9:00
Rock a Tot 9:05
Bigger Isn’t Better 9:15
Oh what a Beautiful Morning 9:20
A Perfect Day 9:35
Shake a Leg 9:40
Dinosaur Rock & Roll 9:55
All the Fishes Were Dancing 10:00
Deep In the Heart of Texas 10:10
Absent Minded Mice 10:25
Le Jazz Hot 10:30

Please be on time for your rehearsal. We may not be able to hold rehearsal, if you are late. And, especially if there is any partnering with other dancers (such as trading dots, forming a circle or figure 8), it really isn’t fair to the other dancers if some are absent from dress rehearsal.

See you all there!

Dance Program Recital Newsletter

Our recital this year will be held on Saturday May 13, morning. Rehearsal starts at 9:00. Then there will be a short break – a great time to check your dancer’s costume, hair and make-up and see if they need to potty. Then the show starts at 11:30 am, so tell guests to arrive before then.

Another way to get there, from the rec center, take Immanuel Road south until it ends at Howard Lane, then take a left. Go east on Howard Lane, then under Highway 130, then turn left onto the northbound service road, which is also called Gregg Manor Road. Then the road takes a turn to the right, away from the highway. Take Gregg Manor Road all the way to Hill Lane, just past Manor High School. The performing arts center is the tallest part of the complex, in the southwest corner.

Attendance is very important these last few weeks. We will be passing out costumes and tights, confirming hairstyles and make-up selections and going over details in classes, so everyone please try to be there and be on time.

Dance Classes Resume Tues Jan 3, Make-ups, Recital Date

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season.

Dance classes resume on Tuesday January 3.

I encourage make-ups, and if your dancer has missed any classes, now would be a good time to do a make-up class. When we get closer to recital, make-ups become more problematic, since we will be working on specific dances for each class, and the student doing the make-up won’t know the class dance.

Mark your calendars! Our recital is Saturday May 13. Rehearsal and recital will both be on the same day, and we’ll be done by about 1:00pm.

I look forward to seeing everyone, starting on Tuesday.
