Questions about the Spring Recital

Is there a recital?

Yes! We have a yearly recital in the spring at a full-size local high school auditorium with a proscenium stage.

The Music & Movement class will have an in-class show at the Pflugerville Recreation Center near the end of classes.

All classes also have an in-class presentation the last week of classes in December.

Is there a fee for the recital?

Yes. The performance fee covers auditorium rental, lighting and sound technicians, costume rental, and includes the recital DVD of the recital. Recital fee is due the second week of class in January. We never charge for tickets, so please feel free to invite as many guests as you like.

The recital fee last year was $45. This year’s will be about the same, to be determined soon.

What about costumes for recital?

To keep costs low, our students rent the costumes rather than purchase them. Some costumes are all-in-one, and some are based on leotards to which costume pieces – such as tutus, skirts, vests, and hair bows – are added to dress up the student’s dancewear. This helps create a special experience for the performers and their audience. (And it’s easier on parent’s budgets!)

Are short session classes included in recital?

No, only the school year session (Sept – May) classes will perform at recital.

Is there a show in December?

The dancers have an in-class show in December. Here, they present the dance we are preparing for recital. The dance is not as polished as it will be for recital, and costuming may be minimal. But this gives the students a chance to show off what they’ve learned.
